This was captured in San Diego

Throughout 2018, I was asked by my family members, friends and peers the following questions:

How was 2018 for you?

How are you doing?

My Answers:

2018 was the best year of my life.

I’m having the best time of my life.

As we are nearing the end of 2018, I took some time to reflect on 2018 and asked myself why do I think 2018 was the best year of my life? Why was I having the best time of my life?

After spending some time thinking about it, this is what I realized.

Almost everything comes down to your perspective. Period. How you see the world and see the things around you determines the outcome of your life.

Finally, the quality of your mind determines the quality of your life.

The values and the beliefs that I built in 2018 were the core reasons why I think 2018 was the best year for me or why I was having the time of my life.

Here they are:

Almost never compare yourself to others. Either you will be depressed or you will grow arrogant. Just compare yourself with your old self. The goal is to stay identity-less.

Your competition isn’t other people. Your competition is your ego, your ignorance, your emotions, your focus, your procrastination, your fear and your energy

Appreciate people more, say thank you more, say please more and give credit to others more

If it’s hell yes, it’s a yes. Otherwise, it’s a no.

knowing how to deal with emotions, short-term pleasures and attachments

Focusing on subtracting

Making a list of people that you would want to work with in the future

Planting seeds with as many good people as possible

Making actions every day regardless of how you are feeling

The biggest returns in life come from the compound effect. It applies to career, wealth, health and relationships

Be impatient with actions but be patient with results

Hard choice easy life, easy choice hard life

Most importantly making sure that you are physically, mentally and emotionally fit.

These values and beliefs are non-obvious and it has changed my life in a good way. I can’t see myself living without them again.

Happy 2019!
